The Two Fatalities Named in the Providence Campus Attack as Law Enforcement Press On With Manhunt for Killer.

Two students who died in Saturday’s tragic incident on the university campus had tributes paid to them on Monday – while an intensive search for their assailant continued following the release by local law enforcement of the sole person of interest in the case.

Tributes for Ella Cook

The young woman Ella Cook, a second-year student from Alabama, was called “a wonderful, steady, devout, shining presence”, per the Birmingham's Cathedral Church of the Advent, which honored her memory at a ceremony on Sunday.

She served as second-in-command of Brown’s branch of the College Republicans organization, according to the organization. The White House press secretary also posted words of sorrow on social media, saying in part: “There are no words. Thinking of her loved ones and companions, above all her mom and dad.”

The Second Victim

The second fatality was MukhammadAziz Umurzokov, an Uzbek national in his initial year at the Ivy League university, according to relatives.

His name was officially acknowledged by Uzbekistan’s foreign ministry.

“He possessed remarkable kindness, humor, and intelligence. He had big dreams of entering the field of neurosurgery and helping people,” his sister, Samira Umurzokova said in a memorial statement.

What Happened

An additional nine individuals were hurt in the weekend shooting in the school of engineering of Brown’s grounds in Providence, during the university's examination week.

Authorities said by the end of Sunday that a 24-year-old male taken into custody in a search at a hotel about approximately 17 miles from the scene earlier in the day was released from custody.

“There is a killer at large,” declared Peter Neronha, Peter Neronha.

Neronha explained, “Sometimes you head in one direction, and then you must reassess and head another way, and that’s exactly what has happened over the last 24 hours or so.”

Community Anxiety

The city's mayor, Brett Smiley, admitted: “It is expected to provoke fresh anxiety for our public”.

The gunman began shooting inside a lecture hall in the engineering building on over the weekend, discharging in excess of 40 shots from a 9mm handgun, a law enforcement official reported to the news agency.

Law enforcement that raided the hotel found two firearms and magazines when the person of interest was taken into custody, the news agency reported.

Those Hurt

Regarding the nine injured, one pupil was released from the hospital, mentioned Christina Paxson, Christina Paxson. An additional seven were in critical but stable condition, and another was critically ill, authorities stated on Sunday.

A private school, a private academy in North Carolina, said Kendall Turner, Kendall Turner, was among those critically wounded.

More Condolences

Cook was remembered at a memorial in Birmingham on Sunday. A reverend stated, “Her presence was a wonderful, steady, pious glow not only in her youth... but at the university she was an incredible light in that institution as well.”

A group leader, Martin Bertao, released remarks from the organization. “Ella was recognized for her courageous, valiant, and compassionate nature as she worked for her branch and fellow classmates,” he said.

The US ambassador, Jonathan Henick, said he was “profoundly grieved” by Umurzokov’s death in a statement. “We extend our sincere condolences to Mr Umurzokov’s family, loved ones, and peers and grieve for of his bright future.”
