"Online platforms is borderless," he stated. "There's a kind environment within which stuff flows – on occasion taking an extreme form and occasionally in softer tones – but which is connected."

The academic said the expansion of the digital conservative movement in the United Kingdom in recent times meant the "potential to have a growing impact is substantial."
